Who was the orchestra performing this piece - it wasn't listed. A "nice" performance but the trumpets were really pretty weak. Sounded like the conductor interpreted this to be a "sitting-room" piece when really it's a big, major work. Trumpets and tympani should knock your socks off when they come-in. Just my thoughts.

Lovely but rather boring. Can this really be J.S.Bach?

Stradi, voir message suivant...

====================
Though with a rather good delay, I agree with stradi on the sonority of the 2-nd movement (Allegretto) of the 7th- Symphony of Beethoven (I mentioned before other movements in other symphonies), the initial march wrapping you with its sonorous crescendo.
And I'd like to repeat here that it would be good to have in this channel some symphonies of Beethoven or at least some movements from them.

I agree with Richard. The trumpets are rather week, but I love it.
Why do we not hear any Chopin?

This is the most horrible, crawling, weakly-interpreted rendition of this piece I have ever heard. The conductor should have his conducting privileges revoked... he has obviously never seriously studied baroque. He is playing this like it was written in the 19th century, and not even well! This goes way beyond creative interpretation... the conductor obviously does not understand the music nor the period it came from, nor the composer who wrote it. I wonder how many of the players were rolling their eyes at his instructions.
I would understand if this was a recording of a youth orchestra... but I highly doubt it.
Please don't put such horrible recordings of Bach on the playlist. This recording was so bad I literally had to press Stop halfway through. My ears were rebelling. This reflects poorly on the taste of the people who select the tracks for this station.

I am saddened by the high number of votes for "simply amazing" on this... There are far better recordings of this piece. This piece is way, way, way below average on the scale of exellence.
I am starting to think this classical station is targeted towards casual listeners and the people who manage it are not selective in their choices at all. They are wasting their licensing money on a lot of the mass-produced "mozart/bach makes you smart", "bach for babies", "musical meditation album #376502765", "bach at the beach" re-re-re-re-licensed classical recording trash Ive heard on here. A modern low-quality Naxos recording is of higher value than this Bach rendition and many of the other tracks I hear on this station. Use tracks off of real classical recordings, please, and you might attract a far greater number of listeners.

Well, this is your opinion...
Mine is that Bach sounds GREAT always.
