Default How often is music changed on SKY.fm?

I love the guitar channel and listen to it several times a week for an hour or two. But it's rather apparent that they play the same songs a lot. They are great songs...but still the same ones over and over.

I've only been listening to internet music for a couple of years...so I'm somewhat new to it. But is it typical for a channel to only play a few musicians for months on end...or longer? Is the idea that you just need to move on if you don't like that musician? The problem is I paid to get the higher bit rate streams and don't WANT to move on. I like Digitally Imported and SKY.fm.

So...will this channel switch up at some point or do I need to just get use to this musician? If this is all that will be played on the guitar channel then it's probably time for me to quit the monthly fee and move on.

Thanks

Now, I know I'm neither a member of the staff at Sky, nor DI, but I believe I can at least start to field your answer.

The music that is played on each channel is selected by a moderator whose job it is to sort through lists of suggestions and samples to find the best combination of sound for the listeners of their station. The guitar channel currently lists a little over 1000 individual songs or variations of songs in the playlist. The order of play (to my knowledge) is random, but as any mathematician will tell you, an element of repetition is invariably part of any true random sequence. Statistically, 1000 is not that great a pool to select from. That leaves the only possible answer to your question to be that the moderator for the guitar channel needs more submissions to comb through to increase the pool and make Sky.FM that much greater for the listening audience. If you have songs in your personal collection that you feel are worthy of the channel, please submit them for review. I'm sure any member of the staff will be happy to direct you to the appropriate website or email address.
I would personally also suggest that if you feel the selection on the guitar channel is too limited at this time, that you seek out other channels provided by Sky or DI that closely resemble the genre you frequent and give them a try one evening. There might be something else available that will satisfy your desire for diversity without the drastic measure of finding a whole new provider.

Default how to submit songs

I have never uploaded music or used ftp. Is there a tutorial on how to do that?
also, I'm wondering about copyright issues; how does that fit in?

I would suggest starting at http://www.sky.fm/submissions

As to the copyright issue, I BELIEVE (don't quote me) that Sky.FM purchases a radio license for each song played. Submissions are listened to and the selected songs are then properly purchased/licensed for airplay. I'm of the impression that the file you submit is NOT immediately dumped onto the airwaves, as that would probably violate copyright law.
