Today is ... the day i have to pick someone up from the airport at the very same time as the Jimi King Live Video show ...

So ... an early Hi! to everyone, have the usual great time, see you next week i hope, and I have one special request ...

Minerva ... Would you keep an eye on the popcorn until I get back, please?

N,

Minerva may be a little late to the show if she can make it at all...funtime family visit! She will undoubtedly see your popcorn note but it may be too late and it will all be gone!

Between twilson, Misty and I the popcorn and margaritas will be replenished by the time you return! Hope your friend arrives safely!

Thanks Matthew. I didn't know that so today is the day I learned something. Sheryl is such a sweetheart that I'm not surprised her friends help her and vice versa.

Default The Lunar Standstill and The Stones of Mystery

Dependent on where you are in the world, "tonight" you will witness a Full Moon.

But it is one that you will only see every 18.6 years and it is known as a Lunar Standstill Full Moon, because the moon is exceptionally low.

Some 3000 years ago what are known as "The Stones of Calanais" were erected. also known as the "Stones of Mystery".

It is now thought that the aligment of these stones related to this Lunar Cycle, and there will be people in attendance at that site tonight..

It sometimes strikes me quite hard however, that altho' I regard myself as semi-intelligent, and with a world of knowledge at my fingertips through this computer. one of my ancestors 3000 years ago, was a helluva lot cleverer than I will ever be.

... and he was one helluva lot fitter, look at the size of the stones.

Details of the Stones of Calanais here:

Thumbs up Atlantis and the "5 year mission"

Today is the day that the space Shuttle Atlantis returned to space.

and one we missed yesterday that I think is important too...the 40th anniversary of the first airing of "Star Trek"...the 5 year mission...
Space:

The final frontier

These are the voyages of the Starship, Enterprise

Its 5 year mission

To explore strange new worlds

To seek out new life and new civilizations

To boldly go where no man has gone before

Maybe in it's own way more important than the space shuttle. Star Trek because it was science fiction could show different races and cultures living and working together as few if any other shows could at the time and along with the sometimes silly plots and over the top acting helped inspire a generation to dream of a better world. And I'm sure a lot of the neat gadgets we have now that were born in the imagination of the writers made the next generations of young scientists and engineers wonder if that were possible and find ways to make them...still waiting on that transporter though!

Default Today is 9/11.

Today is ... one of those days when we all remember where we were as an event unfolded. I was at home, and watched in horror, at something I still find hard to fully absorb.

Over the past week on one of the UK TV Channels there have been a series of programmes looking at 9/11, and how it affected and continues to affect those caught up in that day ... one related to those who served in the New York Fire Department: FD-NY.

But for me even 5 years later, and having watched the programmes, I stll find it hard to fully comprehend ...the world changed that day in so many ways.

I decided that what I needed to do to even attempt to remember those that died, and those that live, but still in the shadow of that day ... was to find a way to personalise it ...

I found this web site ... one of many such:

http://www.clydeskeywest.com/world_trade_center_7.htm

I looked first at the long list of countries involved ... 9/11 took place on American soil, but it affected us all, wherever we live.

But even that list was still too large a canvas, so I looked at the list of names, and I chose one name, just one. One individual who died, caught up in a tragedy wholly innocent of any wrongdoing.

Today, I will remember that one person
whose name I have chosen,
as the only way which I personally can find to
commemorate the overwhelming totality of 9/11.
