We call it Armistice Day, or Poppy Day - but it's not a holiday here. However, work stops at 11am for 1 minute and many radio stations go silent as a mark of respect.

Is this day what you call Veterans Day in the US?

In Australia, the relevant holiday is in April - we call it Anzac Day (Australia & New Zealand Army Corps). It marks the date of a massacre during WW1 in Turkey.
